LRNRD Outdoor Classroom

The story of the LRNRD’s outdoor classroom is the story of how an empty lot became a public park, where adults and kids alike could experience nature.

In 2007, the LRNRD received a grant through the Nebraska State Arboretum to convert what had formerly been a lumber storage area into a learning center; this lot is located on the corner of First and Jewell Streets in Alma, Nebraska—directly east of the LRNRD office.

With financial and in-kind contributions from Alma Public Schools, the City of Alma and Alma Rotary, the project became a reality. Completion of the LRNRD Outdoor Classroom is expected in the fall of 2008.
