enabling districts to respond best to local
needs. Elected boards of directors govern the districts.
Much of their funding comes from local property
taxes. In most cases, a Natural Resources
District typically uses 1% - 2% of all property
taxes collected in the county.
NRD's help Nebraskans respond to natural
resources challenges with local control and
local solutions. Often, they build partnerships
with other agencies and organizations, including
the USDA Natural Resources Conservation
Service, the Nebraska Natural
Resources Commission, other state and
federal agencies, municipalities, counties, and
private organizations.

The Water Jamboree is a
cooperative effort provided by the Lower
Republican NRD, Tri-Basin NRD, University of
Nebraska Cooperative Extension and the Natural
Resources Conservation Service. The Water
Jamboree |

will be held on two days
with schools attending the day of their choice.
Every year the event is held on the third
Wednesday and Thursday of April. The location of
this Water Jamboree will be at the South Central
4-H Center and will utilize sites and facilities
on the Harlan County Reservoir. |
